Counselor s Desk

Mrs. LaSonja Graves

We are happy to introduce Mrs. LaSonja Graves as the counselor of Jefferson Davis County High School. Jefferson Davis County is no strange place for her because this small county is where she's born and raised living with her parents, Roy and Bettie Drummond and eight siblings. Mrs. Graves is a proud graduate of Prentiss High School Class of 1990. After high school, she went to Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi where she received a Bachelors Degree in Education, later attending the University of West Alabama where she earned her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, later returning to Jackson State University to pursue a Specialist in School Counseling.

Graves has been in the field of education for over 18 years. He role as an educator has pushed her to encourage all children to strive for their personal best because no matter whom you are and how storms may have knocked you down, LIFE MATTERS! Graves is thrilled to be working with the students, teachers, administrators, and parents whom I so highly regard. Please do not hesitate to contact her for assistance. Wishing everyone a great school year!   I leave these words with all of my upcoming students, “No matter whom you are or where you come from I want you to know you will be special to me.”

  • Students are welcomed and encouraged to see the counselor before breakfast and during lunch.
  • Students are encouraged to complete a "Student Self Referral" form to schedule an appointment.
